Recently, six departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Commerce, jointly issued the "Work Plan for Stabilizing Growth in the Machinery Industry (2025-2026)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Work Plan"), setting targets such as achieving an average revenue growth rate of around 3.5% for the machinery industry from 2025 to 2026 and exceeding 10 trillion yuan in revenue by 2026.
The "Work Plan" also sets a series of key targets for stabilizing growth in the machinery industry from 2025 to 2026: maintaining steady growth in the scale of key sub-sectors, accelerating the cultivation of new productive forces, further enhancing corporate competitiveness, significantly improving the supply capacity of high-quality equipment, and fostering a group of competitive small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) specialized industrial clusters as well as internationally competitive industrial clusters.
Liu Xinyan, Party Committee Secretary and Deputy Director of the Equipment Industry Development Center under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the machinery sector, covered by the "Work Plan," accounts for approximately 10% of the industrial economy, and its role as a "ballast stone" in the mechanical industry will become even more prominent in the future.
In line with the aforementioned objectives, the "Work Plan" outlines coordinated efforts on both supply and demand sides to stabilize the mechanical industry through multiple measures, proposing 14 key tasks across three major aspects.
"Comprehensively expanding effective demand" was prioritized, proposing measures to promote the large-scale application of intelligent manufacturing equipment in sectors such as automobiles, electronic information, aerospace, shipbuilding and marine engineering, rail transit, clean energy, agriculture, construction, and mining. It also called for accelerating the advancement of major projects under the national 14th Five-Year Plan, planning significant projects for the 15th Five-Year Plan, and continuously driving innovation in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, rail transit equipment, medical devices, and other industries.
A relevant official from the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that 70% of the demand in the machinery industry comes from infrastructure construction and equipment investment for new projects or upgrades across various sectors of the national economy, making it a key battleground for stabilizing exports. The "Work Plan" proposes five tasks from both domestic and international perspectives to continuously enhance the driving force for steady growth in the machinery industry.
