In fact, the Chinese coast guard has long been developing its own coast guard ships and building an equipment system for coast guard ships. From the current situation, the Chinese Coast Guard is learning from the Chinese Navy and establishing a four class ship system. The 818 Type Coast Guard Law Enforcement Ship, further down, is a large number of Type 056 frigates transferred from the Chinese Navy to the Coast Guard. The Type 056 frigate is not suitable for long-distance operations, but it is suitable for undertaking oil and fishery protection tasks in the near sea. Moreover, its airworthiness and livability are good, making it suitable for long-term maritime law enforcement by the coast guard.

From the perspective of the equipment echelon of Chinese coast guard law enforcement ships, there is only one missing 6000-7000 ton coast guard law enforcement ship. The coast guard law enforcement ship developed based on the 052D destroyer can precisely fill this gap.
