Another internationally renowned multinational corporation is about to prepare for cross-border car manufacturing! This time it's Lalamove, a freight company that everyone is familiar with and may even frequently use their services! You read it right, Lalamove, headquartered in Hong Kong and known as "Huo La La" in China, has been corrected and is preparing to establish its own electric truck brand called "Dora Ba Fang"!
According to media reports, the soon to be officially launched new brand "Dora Bafang" has submitted a report to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and is preparing to launch a pure electric truck in the Chinese market. According to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the dimensions of this truck are 5095 × 1870 × 1990mm (length x width x height) and the wheelbase is 3300mm.
The website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also pointed out that the specific available cargo space inside this Dora Eight Square electric truck is 3085 × 1705 × 1485mm, with an overall cargo capacity of 7.8 cubic meters (equivalent to 7800 liters). The front seat adopts three rows of directly connected seats (including the driver's seat), the rear side adopts a sliding door design, and the other side adopts a double door design that can open 270 degrees outward.
In terms of power specifications, this Dora Eight Square pure electric truck will be equipped with a set of electric motors with a power output of 128PS. The battery will use 43.54kWh supplied by CATL, 43.06kWh supplied by FinDreams (a subsidiary of BYD), or 41.86kWh capacity battery supplied by EVE Energy, with a maximum range of 305 kilometers (CLTC test standard).
Of course, as a company that has no experience in cross-border car manufacturing before, Lalamove has also specially invited well-known domestic car companies to cooperate and adopt the technology provided by the other party. This cooperation partner is Changan Kaicene, a sub brand of Changan Automobile Group that focuses on the commercial vehicle market. It is expected that this Doraemon Bafang will also be produced and assembled by Changan Kaicene.
In fact, Lalamove's intention to enter the electric vehicle market has long been traceable. As a freight company listed in Hong Kong, Lalamove publicly stated in its financial report several years ago that it would explore research and development opportunities for pure electric commercial vehicles, and expressed its intention to enter the sales business of new energy vehicles in 2023.
According to Lalamove's publicly available information, approximately 40% of all freight platforms in the global market will be new energy vehicles by 2024, with a cumulative mileage of 7.4 billion kilometers. Lalamove also has 940000 charging facilities for new energy vehicles in 338 countries worldwide. Therefore, Lalamove's move clearly serves the company's own purpose.
