The French Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industry and Digital Sovereignty issued a press release on the 16th, saying that government has updated the "National Hydrogen Strategy" and will set up a support mechanism with a total amount of 4 billion euros to ensure the market competitiveness of low-carbon hydrogen with hydrogen produced from fossil fuels in the next 15 years. The communique said that although the preliminary results show that France's hydrogen industry has broad prospects, it takes time to reduce carbon dioxide through hydrogen, and at the same time, the hydrogen industry also faces many structural challenges. Against this backdrop, the adjustments to the revised " Hydrogen Strategy" include: the national installed capacity of electrolyzers reaches 4.5 gigawatts by 2030 and 8 gigawatts by 035; strengthening the autonomy of hydrogen technology throughout the industry chain; developing a transportation network for low-carbon hydrogen in France; and ensuring the basic conditions for the development of the hydrogen industry, including talent supply, land acquisition, approval efficiency, regulatory system construction, and grid access. It is reported that in order to continue to develop the hydrogen industry France will relaunch the bidding for the Hydrogen Key Technology (IDH2) project to continue to support the research and development of core technologies; launch the collection of hydrogen vehicle promotion projects to promote the development of fuel cell and hydrogen tank technology through the purchase subsidy of light commercial vehicles in 2025; and support the research of synthetic fuel, aiming to achieve the industrial production of synthetic fuel in the field of aviation and shipping by 2030.
