Led by Guangdong Kelide New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Badfu Group, and jointly undertaken by Sun Yat sen University and Guangzhou Automobile Group, the provincial key chemical new material project - "High performance automotive parts cathode electrophoretic paint" project conference was successfully held at Badfu Innovation and Research Center. The meeting aims to summarize the progress of the project's phased research and development, and conduct in-depth discussions on the current technical difficulties and next steps for tackling them, in order to accelerate the innovation breakthrough and industrialization landing of electrophoretic coating technology and gather consensus.

Currently, China's automobile production and sales have ranked first in the world for 16 consecutive years, and the annual demand for electrophoretic paint in the new car manufacturing industry alone exceeds 350000 tons. In the macro context of the automotive industry's evolution towards high-end and intelligent development, as well as the increasingly strict control of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions by environmental regulations, the market has put forward higher requirements for the anti-corrosion, insulation, and environmental performance of automotive components.
To this end, the project was officially launched in January 2025, aiming to integrate the unique advantages of the three parties in basic research, material development, vehicle manufacturing, and application verification, and to connect the full chain collaboration of "research and development production application" to jointly overcome the key challenges of upgrading the electrophoretic coating technology for high-performance automotive components.
As the core leading force of this project, Badfu and its subsidiary Guangdong Kelide New Materials Co., Ltd. have been deeply engaged in the research and development of water-based resins and coating formulas for more than 20 years, with mature large-scale production capabilities and a full industry chain service system. With their profound accumulation, they have provided solid guarantees for the smooth progress of the project.

Taking this conference as a new starting point, the three parties will concentrate their strengths and focus on tackling core technical challenges such as the formulation system and process adaptability of high-performance cathode electrophoretic paint, accelerating the transformation of related achievements into large-scale production.
