China's first intelligent coating production line for marine oil and gas equipment is put into use in Zhuhai

The first intelligent coating production line for marine oil and gas equipment in China has been put into operation at its Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base (hereinafter referred to as the "Zhuhai site"), which is of great significance for promoting the intelligent transformation of marine oil and gas equipment manufacturing and accelerating the development of new marine productivity.

The painting process is an important link in the manufacturing of marine oil and gas equipment. The anti-corrosion coating system is used to protect marine oil and gas equipment from seawater corrosion, salt spray erosion, and biological adhesion, in order to extend the structural life and reduce maintenance costs.


According to Qu Huajing, the manager of the Zhuhai site painting scaffolding operation department, the intelligent painting production line used in this project is optimized for the design of ultra large tower structures. It mainly consists of four parts: roller frame, outer wall spraying robot, inner wall spraying robot, and AGV intelligent crawler shuttle. It has functions such as full process intelligent control, point-to-point precise spraying, autonomous programming, and automatic obstacle avoidance. The painting system can be customized according to needs, and the work efficiency is 4 to 8 times higher than traditional manual methods.

In marine industrial manufacturing, common spraying methods include manual spraying and machine spraying, which face problems such as unstable paint film thickness, low operational efficiency, and high energy consumption. Taking the Inch Cape European wind duct rack as an example, due to the large volume of the tower, there are 2500 mm machine spraying blind spots at both ends inside. It takes at least half an hour to manually complete the spraying, which is prone to uneven paint surface and difficult to spray blind spots.

It is reported that in order to solve this problem, CNOOC Engineering has teamed up with top domestic manufacturers to tackle it, innovatively applying more than ten new technologies and independently developing AGV intelligent track type shuttle cars. By carrying robots, automatic spraying of the full coverage of the tower inner wall can be achieved in just 5 minutes. At the same time, the spraying production line adopts a highly integrated design of gas supply and power system, achieving fully enclosed protection and effectively ensuring the robot's continuous 24-hour full load operation.

Next, the Zhuhai site will explore the introduction of AI self-learning algorithms to dynamically optimize paths and paint film thickness, achieve adaptive spraying of complex surfaces, improve accuracy and material utilization, and provide an innovative paradigm for customized production of marine oil and gas equipment.
